Functional Unit Distribution
Functional unit Distribution is often seen as a synonym for EPCG. This is not surprising if we know that the scope of work we perform is extremely broad and when our people are always on the field in an immediate contact with customers – whether when connecting facilities to distribution network, when removing or installing poles, or when performing maintenance or modernization works.
Important role of Distribution is to ensure good quality of electricity in order to have all electrical devices and machines operating normally - light bulbs, household appliances, computers, as well as specific customers in certain segments of industry.
Important part of our activities concerns harmonizing operation of distributive network with operation of transmission network and customers’ installations. In order to meet this requirement we have regular investments into modernization and enhancement of electricity distribution network.
There are 16 distribution centers, organized on a territorial principle as well as Distribution Head Office operating within FU Distribution. Due to volume of work and wide area we cover we are a part of EPCG with the biggest number of employees and at the moment we employ 1291 people.
The fact that we cover the whole territory of the Republic of Montenegro speaks about complexity of our work. Currently we have over 355,000 customers.
Currently our key focus is implementation of losses reduction activities, primarily aiming at reduction of non-technical, i.e. commercial losses, and afterwards even technical losses.
Our development is a result of requirement for constant investments into maintenance and enhancement of existing electricity distribution network.
Based on these investments in the construction and modernization of electricity distribution network in this and future years in the distribution expected to be able to promptly respond to all requirements of the final consumers of electricity.
One of the most important activities in the future is the introduction of remote metering and demand management in the distribution network in Montenegro. Implementation of remote readings will significantly change the mode of operation in the field measurements of electrical power, control and connection of new consumers. In this sense EPCG has implemented the Agreement with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) in which will cover 50% of consumption (175,000 meters).
In 2010 was put into operation a new TS 35/10 “Gornja Zeta”, to improve the supply of Zeta area, and the supply of water source (Regional Water Supply). The TS 35/10 kV Vranjina- Podgorica was build to improve the supply Vranjine area, TS 110/10 kV Podgorica 5, in cooperation with the Transmission AD Podgorica. Completion of the TS 35/10 kV Bistrica-Nikšić and TS 35/10 kV Humci-Cetinje was financed from the credit of the French Government.
FU Distribution is actively involved in international professional cooperation. A significant step forward in this field has made by the establishment of the National Committee CIRED of Montenegro, on 26.04.2007 when the conclusion of the joining of Montenegro to international organization CIRED was adopted.
At the session of the International Committee of CIRED held from 21 to 24 May 2007 in Vienna, Montenegro became an associate member of this organization, and membership is officially published on the website http://www.cired.be/page_membership.htm.
CIRED is the leading international forum in the field of electricity on which are presented the best international practice and technology development and management of electricity distribution. The main tasks of the National Committee of CIRED are to work on increasing business abilities, skills and knowledge for all professionals involved in their activities.
